EPISODE 8 "THE PROPHECY"
It was a dark and dingy basement, the gray walls hardly could be seen with the faint moonlight coming through little cracks spread over the ceiling. The glow of the dim light seemed to be concentrated on the center of the place into a sort of ethereal nebula ... and right then, Beth woke up.
She was lying in a strange bed that looked like something from another era, the whiteness of its silks against the blackness of the metal structure which flanked by four poles carved with strange figures, half angel half devil, that seemed to be watching her from every corner with their faces carved on a leaden metal. She tried to get up but couldn’t, someone had tied her wrists and ankles to each of the posts. Beth looked around confused and then she was faced with her jailer. He was a tall vampire, dark with a pale face and terrifying appearance that looked at her smugly, just then he realized that the girl was wakening up. Lance moved closer to her and with a gesture full of irony, he feigned an apology saying. "I hope you’ll forgive me for the little "loan" which I took from you the other night." His sadistic smile further highlighted the cruelty of his fractions. Beth thought with all the speed with which her confused mind allowed her. The fainting she did the other night, when she’d dreamed that Mick and she had made love after Coraline took him away. My weakness ... the anemia ... - and for a moment the panic gave way to nausea only thinking that this monster could have taken her blood with his repulsive mouth. Then the vampire began to observe her with a diabolical gaze as his index finger walked gently on the soft contours of her face down to the temptation of her beautiful and immaculate neck. "The truth is that I would have loved take it from you by myself, sinking my fangs into your skin, feeling the pleasant taste of your blood flowing in my mouth, but I had to think of other things." He pointed to a bed near her where another woman slept. She had a snow-white skin, blond hair and her resemblance to Beth was so obvious they might have been twin.
"Anne." Beth whispered and a strange mixture of anger and compassion swirled into her mind when she saw her sister there, defenseless and captive as she was and the hatred welled up in her eyes thinking of her cruel imprisonment, 23 years of solitude. Beth looked at him again, facing the silvered gaze of vampire, and her chin began to tremble with rage and strength. She could hardly control the nausea that the closeness of that horrific memory caused her. And as he approached her face, she struggled with all her strength to avoid his unpleasant contact .
Lance was sniffing her like she was a succulent dish and his eyes shone euphoria as the smell penetrated his nostrils making him move even closer to her. Moved by an irresistible attraction, but her stubbornness made him notice the two small marks in her neck. And another very distinct scent that emanated from them as an inescapable sign that she had an owner. Then a grimace of disgust, frustration, anger wrinkled his face in a gesture of disapproval. "You little bitch.” He muttered while one of his cold hands pressed the woman´s neck, making it hard for her breathe while he inhaled the tempting scent of her fear. "You made him fall for you." Beth could feel his repulsive breath on her face. “But no matter, he won’t see you again. This will be your prison from now". He said glancing around while his eyes reflected a devilish glow. "Your blood and your body belong to us now and always. If the ex-husband of my sister is still alive after our little surprise and he dares to approach you I assure you he will die in the attempt.
She spat out her hatred on his face and he smiled with absolute cynicism while he collected her spit with his fingers that was sliding on his face and brought it till his mouth, savoring it as if it was a delicacy. Then, he took her face violently and cast it to a side, exposing the temptation of her throat and staring at her all the while, he brushed her throat with his tongue, licking the site in which Mick’s marks were keeping his kingdom. She grunted in disgust. She’d rather die or be killed rather than let anyone desecrate the memory of him. She fought desperate, trying to free herself from the bonds that held her with no mercy while they were lacerating the delicate skin of her wrists and ankles. ‘If I could kill him with my own hands, I´d do it’ but she could not do nothing. And the vampire looked at her pleased, enjoying her defeat with a macabre expression of triumph on his lips while he took a silver box from his jacket pocket. "You look tired my dear. Tell me darling, do you want to sleep? I hope so, because you'll have all eternity to rest.” Beth felt a twinge in her left arm while Lance smiled, rejoicing in his task. “Say hello to your father.” Then, a blue serum began to penetrate through her veins and a deep lethargy was spread through her body with every beat of her heart.
After injecting the substance Lance touched one of the poles that held the bed and from the sides of it slowly rose thick walls if lead that were closing upon her as an impregnable tomb, leaving her in the most absolute darkness and despair, while her last scream was silent, enclosed between the heavy walls of her prison.
“Sweet dreams, princess ... ahahahaah."

BETH: I felt like I was falling into a deep sleep and soon after multiple visions of memories, some lived and others dreamed, began to pass as in a strange carousel of lights and shadows while the images shook me, alternating calm and terror in its wake. I saw Mick loving me first and then I saw him lying at my feet, covered in blood while my soul was torn into a thousand shreds and my body felt the anguish of my forced stillness, tears rolling down my face and a cry of horror swirled in my breast, hurting me like the edge of a sword. But when it seemed that unconsciousness would come from the hand of the pain, another sudden vision came to me. I felt the touch of soft, strong hands caressing my face. I could not clearly see his face but heard his voice whispering in my ear and I felt his coolness, like when I was a little girl and fear had struck me in the middle of the night. It was a memory hidden in the oblivion. It was the memory of my father, but so real that I could feel him like he was with me, right there.
"Do not be afraid, my little princess, the nightmares are just mists which invade our dream, but it always dissolve when we wake up. Let your prince will come to you, let him wake you up. Do not be afraid my treasure, sometimes death is just another step on this path where the end is just the beginning"

MICK: I closed my eyes to find her but I could only feel the pain of her absence stabbing into me like a stake through my soul, leaving a painful void in its place, while her scent was lost to me in the air and the sound of her beating heart was became more and more weak until there nothing. Suddenly everything became dark, pain, loneliness and death. If she isn’t alive, nothing makes sense without her, eternity becomes an unbearable punishment for which there is not relief, just death.
........::**::.........
Mick turned his eyes, which were clouded by despair and bewilderment to look at Gabriel, while he was remembering Josef’s words. "They are the messengers of death. When a Guardian crosses your path it means that death is coming" "Death” What would it matter if death came to him at that moment? He was already dead since he stopped seeing the light of her eyes. Her absence was killing him without mercy, yet he never stopped feeling that she was close despite the distance, never stopped loving her, wishing and waiting for her. But now that hope was lost with the distant and slow melody of her heartbeat. It was like dying and waking again in the middle of the nothing. Death could not be as painful as what he felt at that very moment. Then the blue gaze of the Guardian entered the mind of the vampire, reading each of his thoughts like an open book and the marble face of Grigori was crumpling slightly by pain and despair he’d found in his path.
“No!” The Grigori ordered with a categorical voice. "Do not think of death. This time I did not come as his messenger even though I am a Grigori and you are a ...” He paused. “A vampire.”

MICK: The mental power that emanated from the gaze of the Guardian seemed absolutely unlimited. A few minutes ago, I would have killed Talbot without remorse. It was like if the pain of losing her and the anger that I felt for myself for leaving her alone, would have destroyed any vestige of humanity in me. Nothing mattered except revenge at that moment. I might have to face everyone and everything, even to myself for avoiding the brief second of pain and anguish for her. But that look was enough to dominate my instincts under an eerie calm. It was as if through the eyes of the Guardian I could see her again and the pain and anger were appeased by the brightness of hope.
She is alive! That was all that mattered. I closed my eyes and instinctively I listened again for the voice but this time I felt the words emerged from my own mind.
"Maybe now you can’t feel her, but you remain her Guardian and she needs you now more than ever."
Mick: “Who are you? ...I know you...”
"I'll be your ally. I returned from the dead to guide you to your destiny, to give you all the whys that you searched for since you woke up in the shadows. I will show you all the power that sleeps inside yourself while you wait for her. I´ll teach you to use it and you will become my eyes and my strength to find her."
Gabriel broke his mental contact with Mick. That was all he needed to know for now. The time would come to reveal the rest. Then, as if nothing had happened he took a step toward the young prosecutor who was still completely clueless, getting bent down to his height and looked at him with compassion. “Now tell me." Gabriel said turning his eyes toward the vampire who at that moment was seeing the Grigori as if he was seeing a ghost. "Do you really think this mortal is your enemy or was it just jealousy that was talking? He rose to his full height and continued. "Appearance is not always real, emotions sometimes cloud the senses and keep us from seeing the truth. You must learn to keep it under control. Let me show you something". The Guardian put his hand on the chest of the vampire. The contact caused a strange sensation in Mick as if a great force pulled him and dragged him into a kind of whirlwind. When Mick opened his eyes an unexpected scene appeared before his eyes.

Talbot arrived at Beth’s apartment with the pendant in his hand and when he almost reached the door he heard Beth’s cries. "Beth, Beth!" He shouted as he ran desperately to the door, ‘God, help me please!’ he thought to himself as he tried to open the door of the apartment. Suddenly he door opened its own. Talbot stepped in and ran toward the screams. Then he came face to face with a scene that he never thought he’d see again. The girl lying unconscious on the bed while the dark silhouette of a man bent over her was lifting her into his arms taking her away. It was for Talbot like turning back the clock 23 years ago, the same night in which that devil took his sister away. But this time he wasn’t going to keep quiet, not this time. Talbot squeezed the pendant hard in one of his hands as if he was seeking in it the necessary strength, he could not fall to fear this time. Then he looked at the intruder and he walked toward him decidedly.
“Let her go!” Talbot cried with determination while pointing his service gun at the stranger.
Lance raised his hands, turned slowly and sarcastically replied. "Well, well ... we meet again." And with a guttural sound added. “Tell me, have you already learned not to fear the dark of night or maybe no?”
Talbot saw the face of the intruder before him showing that devilish smile that had so often tortured him in his nightmares. He felt the fear began to block his body and the gun began to shake in his hands while his mind struggled to hold firmly as he aimed at that monster. This time he was face to face, just one foot away from that awful being, and he could almost feel the cruelty in his face that was freezing his blood. Just like that night so long ago, but this time he could not be dominated by fear. "I will not let you take her away, you damn monster. Not this time.” Talbot said as he was removing the safety of his gun, ready to shoot without taking his eyes off the monster who was looking at him with the curiosity of a predator in front of the unexpected and futile attack of his victim .
"Do you really think that you can stop me?" Lance asked with feigned innocence. "I could destroy you right now without your brain having time to react.” The vampire said as he opened his mouth showing his sharp fangs, taking a bite out of the air. "But I won’t do that". He said indifferently. "After all, you helped me to get her.” Lance said as he bowed slightly against the silver pendant in Talbot hand and then he turned back to Beth who was lying inert on the bed. Lance said “You wanted to know if Anne was fine? She will be when the blood of her sister releases her of her weakness. The life of one for the other, is a fair deal, is not it?" Lance asked Talbot in a cruel irony "And finally you´ll pay for getting your peace.”
“No!" Talbot cried "Don’t touch her! Don’t you dare touch her!" Then hate overcame fear, he was not going to let the filthy, cruel beast that shattered his past put his dirty claws on Beth. He pulled the trigger, but the bullet passed through Lance’s body without leaving the slightest trace. Lance turned to him with complete indifference and with a simple and swift movement of his hand threw him into a corner of the room leaving him unconscious by the strong impact. He then took Beth in his arms again, approached the young man and whispered. 'No, no, no ... I think you should have listened to me when I said to you. “THE PAST ALWAYS COME BACK hahaha." And finally Lance disappeared into the shadows.

Gabriel ceased contact with Mick and the whirlwind stopped short while he felt as if suddenly he was thrown out of it. Mick looked around and found Talbot nestled in the corner, oblivious to what was happening around him. But this time when Mick looked at him, there was no hate in the eyes of the vampire, just compassion.
“This pendant belongs to her sister, Eliane." Gabriel explained stroking the little silver angel that hung between Talbot’s clenched fingers. He snatched her 23 years ago when he was just a child and ignored the consequences that this would have on her life. Anne was kidnapped like Beth and for the same reason, but no one came to her rescue. Her tomb was occupied by the body of an innocent and little Benjamin had to endure the weight of his guilt, the torment and loneliness for his silence. It's been 23 years, but he has never stopped looking for, hating and punishing himself for it. His pain and the blame were always there". Turning his eyes toward Mick added. "You have punished yourself also for being what you are, is that not it? Look ... you both have many things in common ... more than what you think. You both have lived tormented by the guilt of a loss, prisoners of a secret that made you feel like a monster, you both have lived in the shadows of remorse and both have found a turning point in her, in Beth, your Beth.” Gabriel insisted with his gaze. "Believe me Talbot would not hurt her even if his sister's life will depend on it. However he´s only a mortal and there was nothing else he could do." He leaned over the young prosecutor and said. “Now it's time to forget and rest." And position one of his pale hands over those eyes blinded by panic and pain and whispered with infinite benevolence. “Just sleep, sleep now." Talbot surrendered to his order, falling into a kind of deep sleep, while his expression of terror was gradually softened till ending up disappearing, giving way to the calm.
But Mick couldn’t think of Talbot at that time. He had only one image in his mind, that of Lance taking Beth. Anger and helplessness were stiffening again his muscles and clouding his mind. "Tell me why?" Mick asked to Gabriel trying to contain the storm which was beginning to arise again inside of him. "Why did they come 23 years ago and why have they come back now?"
“You already know the answer to that…her blood." Gabriel turned his gaze to the drops of blood on the whiteness of the sheets. "But, it´s not only a cure that they searched for in that blood. I´m afraid that the Duvall’s will never give up their immortality and their power. During these past 23 years they believed that she was dead, but now they have discovered the truth and they have come back to fulfill an old prophecy.”
"Prophecy? What have you talking about?"
"Centuries ago, in the dark days when vampires and Guardians ceased to be brothers to become in enemies, there emerged a strange omen. Life and death will flow from the chalice which collected the blood of two powerful and irreconcilable races through two siblings born of different wombs. They will be carriers of good and evil. The light will feed the darkness and the power will emerge from their union. This omen was taken by some vampires as a way to avenge those of their race which had been executed by fire by order of Grigoris. However, they let it go to soon. The prophecy was only an unattainable myth, Guardians and vampires could not mix, it was crazy just thinking about children born from their union. It would be like mixing ice and fire, one of two inevitably would end up annihilating to the other. So over the years and the arrival of peaceful times, the omen ended up falling into obscurity. Until Lance rescued it for his sire and they found the key to fulfill the prophecy."
“How?” Mick asked.
“Through Coraline ... their seventh sibling.”

In the shelter ...
Coraline finally woke up and Josef was next to her waiting with impatience to get answers to many questions
J: "Well, you woke up! You must be the only vampire or more exactly "ex vampire", who has survived an encounter with a Grigori ...but as I think about it, you are the first ex vampire female that I know.” His fingers caressed the neck of the beautiful woman while he added eagerly. "But that could change at any time." His words caused a weak smile to form on her face.
C: "Do not tempt me." Coraline said with barely a whisper.
J: “Why not?” The vampire asked with surprise at her unusual conformism. “Do you plan to stay like this and let death take you over?”
But she said nothing, just smiled again though it was a smile drenched in sadness.
C: “What difference would it make? I've been immortal enough time to realize that eternity for me is just a synonym for solitude and death ... immortality is not worth it if you do not have love and you should already have discovered it, my dear friend.” Josef dodged that gaze that seemed to shout at him a truth that he had tried to bury in the depths of his being, a truth that had a name, Sara. “When you're immortal and the future is just a cold ocean of eternity, sometimes it cannot be avoided to look to the past for finding the warmth of lost life. There was a time when I searched in the shadows for a relief to my pain ... there was a time in which I did not want to suffer, not wanted to feel, I was filled with hatred and wanted to leave my soul behind, but nobody dies completely, the pain isn’t gone, just change the name and eternity becomes an infinite void worse than death."
Josef watched Coraline as if he were seeing her for the first time.
J: "Tell me what your relationship is with the Grigori´s clan and with Beth? Why did that Guardian leave you alive?"
C: "Blood line" She answered.
J: “What do you mean?”
C: “The AO- is not an extremely rare blood type, it is the brand of those who descended from The Grigori and they cannot kill someone who has their blood, not matter if it is the blood of their worst enemy. “
J: “But you belong to an old lineage of vampires, you have been a predator ... how can you have the blood of Guardians?”
C: “That's ... A long story ... A story that I regret now more than ever.” She sighed wistfully and her eyes filled with terrible memories of yesterday.

I was a kind of a missing link between two races. Born of a forbidden love, through my veins ran the mixed blood, not pure, of one mortal descendant of the Grigoris and, as if it were a predestination, when I was still human, my heart and my body came to belong to one of them, Eric, one of the brothers of the Guardians clan Tournell." The eyes of the woman flooded with immense sadness to pronounce that name. But the universe was never on my side as human or as a vampire. At that time my family had given me in marriage to a tyrant and Eric came into my life like an angel, a hope, a shelter that day by day, night by night, became a mutual need. And so, little by little, we ended up succumbing to that forbidden love. Eric faced his brothers, renounced his powers because of me, for my love and we both came to be one, but fate ended up punishing our sin in a most cruel way.
In one of our love meetings we were discovered, and while I was punished and marked with the ‘fleur of lis’, the brand of traitors, prostitutes and thieves, Eric...he was captured and...” Her voice was broken and tears welled up in her eyes. “I have never stopped hating them for it ... never!" She exclaimed between sobs. "I´ll never forgive them nor myself." Her eyes settled into nothingness and her voice became iced.
“From there my life was a constant hell and my body was delivered to other arms, and others... while my soul was falling apart inside me with each of those dirty hugs. Months later, the fruit of that forbidden love was present and I was abandoned to my fate. I ended up wandering the cold streets of Paris until hunger, despair and pain led me to the edge of madness. Finally I gave birth in the street like an abandoned animal, a crying baby burst in the silence of the night but gradually this sound moved away from me and disappeared forever." And then a tear rolled from her eyes.
Shortly after that ... I could feel the cold breath of death penetrating through my veins, freezing all of me ... and then everything went black and I lost track of time. I woke up in a bed covered in fine silk, but by then my heart had stopped beating in my breast and my eyes were not human. Around me were my new brothers, waiting for my awakening but there was no trace of my baby. My soul and all what I was, disappeared with him that cold night and I let myself be enveloped by the darkness of hatred and thirst for revenge against everything and everyone. I became a survivor soulless, ready to give back the pain I had received, ready to give back the death where I was prisoner. I turned into a vampire and my mixed blood made us immune to fire. A few years later, Lance discovered the cure that can hide the symptoms of vampirism temporarily, however, repeated use, could cause serious consequences for our metabolism, even in death, paradoxically by hemophilia"
And in her mind came the sad image of Morgan, flesh of her flesh, blood of her blood, falling dead at the well and again the tears came into her eyes. How much death, how much pain had she left behind!
J: “Hemophilia…” Josef repeated while he remembered the story that Mick had told him about the girl found in the river.
She nodded at him.
-C: "The power of my mixed blood was not enough. They were not seeking a cure for vampirism, they sought the absolute power of the prophecy and I was only looking the eternity that vampires and Guardians had stolen of me. I was looking for him...my love, my life...Eric. However, three hundred years later, when fate put him back in front of me, it was too late. The shadows had destroyed everything that I once was and because of my fear of losing him again, my need to silence my own guilt, I did the worst thing I could do. I turned him into what he had never wanted to be, I turned him a vampire."
-J: "Bloody hell!" Josef exclaimed absolutely puzzled "Coraline, tell me you're not talking about Mick!!"

…………………………….............................………………………….........................
M: “Coraline?” Mick asked absolutely surprised, he could not believe what he was hearing.
G: “Yes, her blood is a strange mixture of two enemy races...the Guardians and vampires. She was born belonging to one of them, but she was reborn after her death by the blood of the other.”
M: “And because of that, she survived the fire that night when I thought that I had killed her.” Mick guessed.
G: "Yes, her blood also gave this power to his clan when she was turned by them, but her sire was looking for something more as he has always done” Gabriel made a tense pause again. “For them the chalice of eternity is about which omen spoke of Elianne. Through her veins run impure blood because of the forbidden mix of two sources that should never be joined. As a result of that, the baby was born weak and sickly. The pure blood of her sister, Elizabeth has great regenerative powers, it will be the vaccine that will heal her before waking to darkness, and when that happens, Elianne will become the chalice that will ensure them the absolute invulnerability and the result is a new race stronger and more powerful, the perfect predator that anyone or anything may submit nor limit."
At that moment Beth´s despair returned to nail Mick like a dagger that was tearing at his bowels, releasing completely the storm that he was trying to keep under control. With his face transformed by the fury that dominated him again, Mick turned to Gabriel and in a split second seized his neck taking him by surprise. No mattered he was a higher being or that he was able to destroy him in an instant, at this moment he could only think of Beth and her destiny.
M: "And why the hell didn’t you use your power to prevent all that? You did nothing!!" Mick roared possessed by rage. "Why did you leave her in their hands?"
G: "Do you think I didn’t try?" Gabriel screamed and for the first time his eyes turned to ice by anger and pain. The Guardian´s look was so intense that it blocked muscles of Mick and made him incapable of keep the pressure on the Guardian’s neck. When Mick ceased his attack, Gabriel softened his expression and regained his usual calm. “The Angel of Life would have protected them from Duvall and from death, but ... nobody can fight fate." Gabriel whispered bitterly while he took his eyes off Mick. “We also have our own rules and our own limits. Elianne Talbot and Elizabeth Turner are born of Guardians but not by our choosing. Their birth was decided by our enemies and it prevents us from acting directly."
M: "By decision of your enemies…But how?"
G: "Genetic selection… It was something that some members of the Duvall´s family experienced during the Second World War. But it was decades later when fate would put in their hands the right genes and the means. However there was something that they had not accounted in making possible. They created a weapon that could not only be their eternity source, but also their executioner.”
M: “What do you mean?”
G: “According to the prophecy, one of the two sisters will empower them, but the other will be their destruction, so they will avoid never allow her to die or to wake up. Her blood will be pure and powerful when it enters into an intermediate state, between two worlds, between life and death. Now their destiny is fulfilled, but Beth will wake up when her blood is spilled by an innocent and she will need her two Guardians close to her. Her Angel of life” His eyes strayed to the pocket where Mick kept hidden the pendant. "And you, only you, can wake her up and bring her back, because she is your destiny and you are hers.”
Then Mick remembered the last night he had with Beth. She seemed to be asking him to turn her and then his greatest fear began to take shape. It was as if the universe wanted to torture him again, breaking him in two parts. "Is that why Lance opened so many doors? He wanted to keep us separated?" He whispered with a mixture of anger and bitterness.
G- “I'm afraid so.”
MICK: The question I had asked myself hundreds of times since she came into my life began to arise in a real way. It was something I dreaded and yet in the end, a part of me could not help wanting it. I knew that sooner or later it would come time to decide, but there was always something in myself that kept me from even thinking about it.
When you live forever, life ends up becoming monotonous, an incessant running of days and nights, years and centuries and as you immerse yourself in all your memories, your memories, your roots, your past, your soul, your essence will be diluted in this eternal running until you just become a shadow of what you were, wandering with only one partner, death, and with only one wish, something really paradoxical, just to live. And when you live forever, hidden in the shadows, fighting against yourself and against hunger or worse, succumbing to it. How could Beth live forever in a hell like that?
…And yet one part of him wanted it, he wanted to have her by his side forever because he knew that he could not live without her, but the thought of hurting her, tortured him too. He had fought against his vampire nature for too long and he knew the pain and fear before succumbing to the call of blood, the feeling of being dirty when he fell into temptation and the terrible anguish for overcoming it. A vampire is what it is and he could not steal the light of her innocence, turning her into what he always hated to himself. What would become of his Beth if he did that? But what would happen to her if he didn’t it?

M: “But…I can’t turn her in a monster. I love her too much to condemn her." Mick whispered confused by that reality as tears flooded his eyes.
G: "And you will not do it. Believe me, I´d never leave my own blood on the hands of a vampire." Gabriel said outright.
M: "I don’t understand you."
G: “Have you ever wondered why you always refused to accept your vampire nature? Why you decided to use your powers to protect mortals instead of attacking them like the others of your species would do? You are the only vampire who knows compassion because you're the only one who has a soul, you're the only one who has learned to control his beast without being a Grigori and you did it because she was able to awake up The Guardian who lives in you." Gabriel took the cross in his fingers that hung from Mick’s neck, and look at it with nostalgia. "The race of the Guardians is now largely defunct, peaceful times made our presence unnecessary. But turbulent times are coming, our enemies are growing more and more powerful and we need to add new blood into our ranks." The Guardian Gabriel said looking Mick straight in his eyes, reading into it a thousand questions, then he turned his back and continued. “However, you will know all the answers when the time comes.” He turned his penetrating gaze to him. Gabriel insisted. “We have to find out where and with whom she´s with before reaching her. My power cannot enter into the domains of my enemies, so you have to help me. After all, Coraline did something right when she brought you in her new family. Now you have to be my eyes to find Beth and here starts your first lesson. You have to look for her inside yourself. You and Beth keep a strong mental contact since she became yours and you drank her blood. That connection has been increasing with the distance and now both of you have become one. You can enter her mind and she can enter yours. But you already know this, right?” The Guardian´s face showed for the first time a mischievous smile. "Well, you have to open that door again. Let your desire for her flow through you." And at that moment Mick again heard that strange voice inside himself. ‘She needs you because you are her Guardian and her warrior ... let her call you now ... let her come to you and then you'll know what to do and where to find her.’ “Help me, please my brother. Help me to find her"

Mick fell into a kind of trance while his eyes, swift as the flight of a bird, traveled through an endless tunnel, eager to get to the end ... eager to find her again ... and again he felt her essence entangled in him, impregnating his mind, his senses, until her image appeared to him.
She seemed asleep and was dressed in a vaporous white dress made of almost transparent gauze that was gently molded to the warm roundness of her breasts, her waist and her hips, sliding down her body hinting at the tempting beauty of her nakedness. Her face was serene, her cheeks held a mild flush and the warm pink of her lips, moist and soft, was a real temptation for him. She was a sleeping beauty and he was dying for her to wake up her while he watched her. He was fascinated by her seductive and pure beauty, completely intoxicated by her scent, so sweet and desirable. His hand tried to reach her body, he needed touch her and feel the warm softness of her skin, but when his fingers were about to touch her, suddenly his brow furrowed and his silver gaze arose. There was something more around her, something that made him feel a great pain and his fingers extended toward her were closing in on the air when he felt a mortal cold around her, threatening to hurt her if he touched her. It was a strange feeling and it was invading his body like the night when Coraline turned him. Beth was immersed in that bitter cold as if she was sunk in a strange lethargy, lost in nowhere land between life and death and yet she seemed so serene and beautiful, so sure he would come for her.

BETH: My love, I feel the force of the waves breaking on these thick walls that now separate us. A bitter cold begins to invade my skin to penetrate my bones and my senses are numb. My body does not respond to my orders, I feel the beating of my heart falling into the same lethargy that dominates the rest of my muscles and my eyes cannot see but a deep endless darkness while I hear strange voices saying my name in the distance. I feel like life has escaped me and yet my mind remains awake in this strangely nothing, refusing to die, and just when everything tends to disappear in the depths of the darkness, I find one light that leads me to you. My love, even in the midst of this uncertainty my mind looks for you and the loneliness of my soul calls to you. My skin suffers your absence, my body needs the strength and security of your embrace, but my heart is still mortal, and fears your arrival, I fear that this death that has caught me, will reach you. And yet all I can say is forgive me my love, but I need you.
Tears fell from his vampire eyes, but he clenched his fists in anger and despair and instinctively his fangs descended when he smelt the nauseating odor of Lance on her. Fury turned his eyes to red when he saw the anguish of her fight. Then he heard Lance’s voice and his nails dug into his own skin in an effort to contain his rage.
L: "Everything is okay, sire. We’ve got the other sister and the blood that we took from her is working." Lance said with a sinister smile as he watched the other girl who was still asleep in her bed, and whose resemblance to Beth was really amazing. "The chalice will be ready soon to give us the power." He saw the faint blush that arose slowly, staining Anne´s cheeks.
And while the color was returning to Anne´s face, a snowy mantle was covering Beth. Mick let out a groan that sounded like of a wounded animal, crying from the depths of his dead heart and thirst for revenge was awakened in him while drops of his blood escaped between his clenched fists.
S: 'Well, you must take all possible security measures, you know what I mean? At this point St John should already know the truth and he will try and come to her. It goes without saying that under no circumstances can he be allowed to touch her.”
L: 'That's impossible, sire, the chamber in which she is locked in will require the contribution of his blood. If he agrees to pay the sacrifice, he will be dead before his eyes can see her.”
S: 'Maybe, but still you should not underestimate him, Lance. He is no small enemy or insignificant force and St John is not alone. Don´t forget, The Guardians are with him and we are still vulnerable, at least until the chalice is ready."
L: "I know, but it is also true that the Guardians cannot come into our domains, sire."
S: "No, but St John can. You know, because of Coraline he belongs to our family too, and on the other hand, those damned Guardians have their own tricks, you know." he growled. "We should not lower our guard, so go, prepare the ammunition and aim it right this time. I want him dead… then we will rest easy.”

Mick opened his eyes...
M: "Damn! I will kill him!" His voice was like thunder breaking the desperate silence as he walked aimlessly around the room like a caged animal. "Everything is prepared as in an ancient rite and Beth...Oh my God!" Mick exclaimed brushing his hair with despair. “All this is my fault, I should have stayed with her. I don’t know how, but I promise, I will kill them with my bare hands before they touch her again. They will pay with their blood for every second of anguish and pain that they have caused her.”
G: “Calm down my impetuous young friend, everything has its time, it’s how and its whys. But fear not, Beth is much stronger than you think and they are not going to kill her because they would lose their most precious treasure ... she is the source of life, her blood is the elixir for this ritual, but the chalice that will pick it up will be Elianne. They believe if Anne drinks the pure blood of her sister and then is turned, the new cycle will start and they will be invincible.”
M: “It´s what they believe but, what is the real truth?” Mick asked
G: “I can tell you nothing more. The only truth is we need to arrive there before it will be too late, otherwise Beth will be in real danger.”
M: "They are preparing their defenses, I saw it. They are waiting for us.....for me." Mick said waiting for an answer.
G: "Yes, it´s true, you are more dangerous for them than anyone." Gabriel replied, and this time the Guardian allowed Mick to read in his eyes the why of this. "However." The Guardian continued. "Before you prepare for this battle, I need to know something. How far are you willing to go for her? What would you be willing to give?”
M: "All that I am." Mick replied without thinking. "I would give my blood and my life for her, if it is called life. I would sacrifice everything I once had or ever dreamed of having, anything just to bring her to life and to know she´s safe. She’s my everything and without her I am nothing.”
G: "Yes." Gabriel replied hearing with pleasure the sincerity of his words. "I know". The Guardian paused and then continued. "So I welcome you to this family ... brother." And the silhouette of Celine emerged from the shadows. Then, the two Guardians placed the palms of their hands on the white gold cross that was resting on the vampire's chest. The contact caused it to shine brightly in response and Mick could feel the whirlwind again wrapping him in a strange energy that penetrated his body, traveling through his veins making him felt more powerful than ever before. After that, Gabriel approached Talbot and took the silver angel that hung from his fingers and put it in Mick´s hand. Mick raised his eyes staring at the Guardian in awe. The contact of the silver on his skin no longer had the slightest effect.
G:"Well." Gabriel smiled pleased "You have the weapon, now we must go to find your army."
.............................................................................................................
In the shelter... Josef could not believe the truth he had discovered.
J: “How is it possible?”
C: "A Guardian cannot die without fulfilling the mission that has been entrusted in him or leaving someone in his place. Eric was the Guardian of the prophecy, but he gave it all up for loving me and he...he ended up dead." Coraline whispered as her body trembled. "His body died but his soul did not and I do not know how or why, his spirit was reborn in Mick. When I met Mick there was something about him that seemed so familiar to me and so irresistible." Coraline closed her eyes as if to catch those moments and keep it alive in her memory. "It´s true that I was not the same women, but my obsession for my lost love became too strong when I looked at those eyes that emanated that strange mixture between desire and innocence. When I saw him I knew that only he could fill the big gap in my lost soul. I thought that the universe was giving me another chance and I clung to it without thinking of anything else. So, I became his wife in spite of eternity between us, but immortality became a rare privilege over the centuries, that buries the soul under the cold slab of oblivion and make it impossible to love. I thought I could beat eternal solitude if I had him beside me forever and my fear of losing him again drove me to turn him. I knew my clan would not touch him if he became one of us, but what about the Guardians? They would not touch him if I gave him something of them…Eric´s cross. He gave it to me the night when we were separated and three hundred years after that, I put it on Mick. But I didn’t realize that by doing that I was sealing his fate. It was only a matter of time that the Guardian´s soul that lived in it would awake. Mick never accepted the change, you know. He never felt like a vampire, even when he hunted to survive. In his eyes there was always an immense pain and an endless nostalgia. He was mine, but there was no love for me in his eyes, just a deep resentment. What an irony!" Coraline smiled bitterly. "A Guardian´s soul living in a vampire´s body, his natural enemy and the only person who loved them both, had made that possible... Me. Yes my friend, it was the worst thing I could have done, but I did it for love. Mick was caught between two halves and that ended up taking him away from me forever. Now he is also a part of that prophecy and will have to ...”
But sunddely,a noise from downstairs interrupted Coralines confession abruptly. Josef´s defense instincts were activated automatically and he prepared to check out the reason for the disturbance. The cleaners, Ryder and two other vampires who had gone with them, entered the shelter quickly. They transported two bodies covered with a canvas bag. When Josef saw them, he feared the worst.
J: "Are they dead?"
A. "Well, I'd say that's a difficult question to answer.” Ryder replied. “We have tried to feed them but there’s no reaction."
K: "It seems like they have been exposed too long to sunlight." Kassandra confirmed. "A few minutes later and they would have really been dead.”
J: “Was there anyone else there?”
V: "It's rare." One of the burly vampires said as he placed Logan’s battered body on the couch. "There were only two guards and it was not hard to take them out of combat.”
K: "They didn’t seem to think we were a priority." Kassandra commented.
J: “No, the truth is that it never has been. “ Josef said gloomily. “I´m afraid their priority has another name. God, Mick! He thought to himself, "Where the hell are you, my friend?" Turning to the two bloodied bodies lying on the couch, Josef added. "Okay, take them upstairs, maybe Coraline knows how to help them."
R: “Coraline? “ Ryder asked surprised. “But I thought she was ...”
J: "No, my dear friend." Josef interrupted. "No one dies here longer than necessary if we can avoid it. Now, come on.” But something made Josef stop suddenly in the middle of the ladder ... A strange smell, not human, not vampire, it was something that he had previously acknowledged in Coraline's bedroom.
J: "Guardians." Josef muttered while he turned slowly. At that moment the bodies of Gabriel and Celine materialized before him. When he saw them, his protective instinct arose. Josef adopted a posture of defense and the others did the same as if they are a wolf pack ready to attack a predator.
G: "Do not fear us." Gabriel accompanied the serenity of his voice with a wave of his hand, preventing Josef to react.
C: "We can help you." Celine spoke with her glass voice, pointing to the two wounded bodies.
J: Really? How generous of you?!" Josef exclaimed ironically. "And why should I believe you? How do I know you didn’t come to finish the job?" Josef asked defiantly while remembering the state of weakness Coraline was in after Gabriel’s intervention.
"Because they come with me" A known voice replied and a second later, Mick suddenly appeared between the two Guardians before the puzzled gaze on his friend Josef.

Brilliant and incredible with beautiful writing, even in translation except for a few spots, very minor. I enjoy your take on the Guardians and Mick's past being in Eric's soul. I think you will enjoy FINDING SAM since I used a similar plot device. Are there other commentaries I can read? My Spanish is too poor to read them in the original, but I'd like to know what others think of this. I'm ready for The Chalice. Penina
Thanks for your comment dear Penina, for me it´s important to know the opinion from someone like you. I will love to read your story FINDING SAM, I'm sure.
I wish know the translation errors to correct if it´s possible, but I'm glad the main plot can be understood . My dear, I´m afraid there is not much comments in English because the translation has just been published recently and it is not known. Most comments are from Spanish speakers and also from Russia, where this story has been very well received.
The only comments in English are given on the forum Moonlight Forever. Some people have written to me by PM to congratulate me about the story because they like the main plot and development, like the style but they do not comment too much about it.
I was afraid that the translation was not correct. There are also touches of humor that are difficult to translate from one language to another, you know, but I'm afraid I can not do more about it.
You'll start reading my favorite part, "THE CHALICE" and "FINAL EPISODE". It´s also the most complicated part, if you have any questions when you read it, just tell me, please.
Kisses and hugs
Selene
Thanks for reading
